Classes & Workshops
Workshops are an ideal way to learn more about ceramics and ceramic techniques by trying it yourself. My teaching experience expands on a ten year period of time. I began with Camp America after leaving university and went on to teaching in community work and volunteering. After 2 years, I started working in Northern Regional College as a part time lecturer for one year. I moved on to working in Ulster Ceramics, but continued with the community work. I have taught a wide range of ages and for people with different needs. At the moment I am teaching localy in Ballymena through MidTown Makers (Ballymena Bussiness Centre) and also through Songbird Ceramic in Galgorm.Â
Types of classes:Â
- Printing on clay: this class offers the possibility of choosing a favorite image and printing it onto clay. The techniques taught in this class are monoprinting stenciling and transfers.
- Make your own (houses, bowls, vases, jugs, lamps, jewellery etc). In this course, you will be taught different handbuilding techniques such as: coiling, slab building, pinch pots, decoration and glazing.
- Paint your own (mugs, cups & saucers, plates, bowls, vases, jugs etc). For this class, you will be provided with an object of your choosing from a list and you will be decorating it within the class. The object will be taken away and fired and returned to you as prearranged.Â
All these workshops are available as an one off or as 5-6 week courses for events such as: hen/stag do’s, birthdays, anniversaries and other evening and weekend gatherings.Â
